Safety Forum on Heat-Related Hazards & NEP

Safety Forum on Heat-Related Hazards & NEP
Thursday, April 27, 2023 (7:30 AM - 9:30 AM) (CDT)
Description
Every year, dozens of workers die and thousands more become ill while working in hot or humid conditions. OSHA's National Emphasis Program (NEP) for Outdoor and Indoor Heat-Related Hazards was created to protect employees from heat-related hazards and resulting injuries and illnesses in outdoor and indoor workplaces. This NEP expands on the agency’s ongoing heat-related illness prevention initiative and campaign by setting forth a targeted enforcement component and reiterating its compliance assistance and outreach efforts.
Join CAGC safety colleagues on April 27th to learn more from Vilma Cantu, OSHA Naperville Assistant Area Director:
- A review of the National Emphasis Program for Outdoor and Indoor Heat-Related Hazards
- Why is the NEP necessary?
- What are the directives for CSHO’s when they visit a jobsite?
- What are the requirements contractors need to be doing to prevent heat illness or stress?
- Examples of actual scenarios, inspections, case studies, etc.
Hot breakfast buffet will begin at 7:30 am followed by the program at 8:00 am.
About the Speaker: Ms. Cantu has been with OSHA for 26 years, 22 as a CSHO and four as a Supervisor.
